Conch Shell in the surf
A foam laced wave is dousing this triton or trumpet snail, stealing it away from the realm of the gods and depositing it on a remote shore of the Caribbean. Triton is a Greek god of the sea, the son of Poseidon and Amphitrite, god and goddess of the water world. Triton lived with his parents in a golden palace in the ocean depths. Later he is often depicted as having a shell he would blow like a trumpet. That a creature as under rated as a snail should be so adorned, should speak to us about labeling and classifying those about whom we know little.
